Reflective supervision, reflective consultation, and reflective practice are terms used for the approaches now considered best practices for providers, supervisors, and agencies where stress, secondary trauma, high turnover, and service quality are significant concerns. This interactive virtual training is designed for supervisors and leaders providing services to children and families, including the infant-family early childhood field, mental health, early education, and more. Utilizing video, journaling, small group activities, and demonstrations, participants will develop a foundational framework for understanding and employing trauma-informed, equity-centered reflective supervision for every aspect of one’s job, including brave space creation, mindful self-regulation, critical self-reflection, use of self, and devising reflective questions to promote provider reflective capacity.

Why Reflective Practice? A Toolkit for Relationship-Building & Reflection in our Work & Workplace

"Relationship-focused and reflective” has long been synonymous with programs serving children and families. Reflective practice creates brave space for providers to think on their work, its impact on those they serve, as well as on themselves. Designed for providers working with young children and families, this interactive virtual workshop introduces the importance of reflective capacity in building relational safety in the work and workplace, and offers ten tools for integrating reflective practice, including use of how or what questions, mindful self-regulation, and critical self-reflection.
